Tell us again who’s not doing their job

President Bush dares to criticize Congress for “not getting its work done.” This from the man who has spent more than 418 days (must be nice) of his presidency – so far – on vacation. Perhaps he thinks

It is outrageous that President Bush would veto SCHIP, then have the gall to frame it in terms of his own relevance. SCHIP promises to yield both health benefits and lower medical expenses in the long term 

14 years later and still no reasons to watch TV

My Dad didn’t think much of TV (always called the idiot box at our house). He often referred to my sisters and me as “slack-jawed idiots” when we watched it as kids. Nice, huh?

On exercise

I hate the fact that I need to exercise. For decades I never had to give a second thought to how much I weighed or if I was getting enough physical activity. Seemed like I was stuck between 175-185 lbs for about 25 years. Now those days are behind me – in more ways than one.

Prostitute? Protestant? What’s the difference?

One of our favorite local families was watching the rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar” at home.  In discussing why Judas was so angry with Mary Magdalene (many traditions hold that she had worked in the world’s oldest profession), Mom and Dad inquired if their son knew what a prostitute was.  He was pretty sure he did:  “Isn’t it someone who’s not Catholic and doesn’t believe all of the same stuff we do?”
